I really love the close up of the duck and the singular reflection. The face is so clear and crisp while the water is so juicy and fluid. A really great job. I find it hard to watercolor such dark images and have it maintain the crisp character of the subject. You nailed it!
Thank you Paula. I am actually trying to loosen my style a little to bring in more movement or emotion. I often overwork the details and the painting turns out to be very static and boring. So currently I am training myself to work loosely - we'll see how that goes :)
Chandni, great painting. I really like the painterly quality that you achieved. I also like the way you unified this painting by using the duck colors in the water and the water colors in the duck.
Chandni, A very handsome little duck with lively colors. Nice reflections.

ReplyDeleteGreat job!! I know how hard it is to get watercolor dark and keep clean without looking muddy. You did a wonderful job of capturing this photo.
ReplyDeleteAmazing... love the water movement.
ReplyDeleteVery well done, especially the reflection, great colors,
