I agree that the strong background colors distract from the rose. Love the strokes and colors you used in the rose.Nan Johnsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03056726501810316005noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3734923695875024838.post-6839999832714767202010-12-08T16:35:33.346-08:002010-12-08T16:35:33.346-08:00Thanks for the advice and comments. Thanks for the advice and comments.William Cookhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13796211941514869554noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3734923695875024838.post-44317508491973746672010-12-05T22:54:40.664-08:002010-12-05T22:54:40.664-08:00There is a reason why a handmade work of art has i...There is a reason why a handmade work of art has its own special appeal.

For his painting subjects, Renoir was always on the lookout for objects with 'imperfections' - which showed their own soul.

Lovely painting William!Jasminehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17195586553336820457noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3734923695875024838.post-27177772690994599192010-12-05T14:39:55.634-08:002010-12-05T14:39:55.634-08:00I think if the background were a bit more subtle, ...I think if the background were a bit more subtle, then your adept painting of the rose would become the star.Claire Beadon Carnellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15601511184498614133noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3734923695875024838.post-22155226471086987882010-11-29T21:12:32.199-08:002010-11-29T21:12:32.199-08:00I would say this is an interesting abstract-impres...I would say this is an interesting abstract-impressionist rendition of the subject. I would try to divide my feedback in a few areas.

Color harmony: It is not there. Too many vibrant colors have been engaged and they definitely compete with each other.

3D effect: Very lightly convinced.

Texture: Great brush strokes work, but does not portray the texture of the subject.

Composition: Well placed elements. Maybe only the vase should be changed to be symmetrical.

Focus: The focus goes to the light blue background and rose is almost not noticed.Lela Stankovichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14304614164163728623noreply@blogger.com
