Painting Technique: This is an experiment in trying to learn to use oil pastel. Trying different brands to find the one that puts down enough pastel so that it can either be blended or moved around, haven't tried using solvent yet. Always looking for options that wouldn't require matting and framing as everything on paper usually does. Added in the chick to give this a bit of humor and some additional interest in the picture.

For a change I started painting at the brightest color I could see, the red comb and then worked from there.
Found the tail feather a challenge in getting the pattern correct and also the background.
I find I tend to overdo the background in watercolor paintings.
