Challenge 42 - Wine & Rose

Thank you so much for your participation in the Challenge 41 -  Water Lily.

The flowers in the water pond are from a visit to one of my most favorite places - the "Royal Botanical Gardens" in  Burlington which is a city near Toronto where I live. I visited the gardens numerous times to spend time with "my" rose bushes, Irises and of course the Water Lilies.

I think every painting in this last challenge was a true beauty. While some paintings caught the reflections in the water, the other paintings caught the light in the composition and yet  the other paintings were special in the painterly and creative way the artists approached the composition. Perhaps we can call this little challenge our tribute to Monet!

--------------------------
About the composition:

The main challenge in this composition is to create the impression of a sparkling wine glass  disappearing in the background.  The glass is identifiable in the photograph as a glass only by the reflections of the surrounding objects - such as the reflection of the window - on the glass.

The white rose is not really white. It is full of many colors and the challenge is to catch the softness of the creamy petals  which blend gently and melt into the background - creating contrast and harmony with the predominantly dark remaining part of the composition.

Please send your paintings by January 05. The next challenge will be posted on Jan 06, 2014.
