Challenge 68 - Cat

Warm greetings to all PADT artists.
I would like to sincerely thank you for your overwhelming response to the previous challenge, which clearly showed that there are many animal lovers out there (no surprise). This inspired our new challenge. This time of a beautiful cat.

About the composition

She is a very friendly  young mom with small, adorable kittens. And did not mind posing for me, especially after I shared my lunch (baked chicken) with her.

What spoke to me in this reference was almost absence of any color. This reminded me of how important are value studies in our artistic journey, and how surprising it is to accept that we as artists can mold any form very convincingly without any color. Just by using gray scale values, from pure white to the darkest black.

You might feel like doing a pencil drawing in the tones of gray, or painting in color enhancing the composition with more color and variety. Let your artistic muse guide your inspiration and creativity.

Please send your drawings and paintings before July 02, 2017. The next challenge will be posted on July 03.

Thank you for participating and Happy Painting,
Lela
