I love the way you used the blue in the fur. He looks like he is thinking - I like the expression on his face. Very nice.

I also like the blues you used. It gives the fur more depth. I know you said you had a hard time with so much black in the photo but you made it your own very nicely.

Glad to see your painting. Cute puppy I especially like the nose and beard.

Sylviane, your painting is a good example of gray scale underpainting. It does not have to many details and it is not supposed to. Subsequent color layers will bring more clarity and texture details once this layer is fully dried.
The areas that will not "help" to subsequent color layers are ears. The size, location, different value areas and shape probably need a little more work. Then, let it dry and approach it once again with the final color layer(s)introducting more defined texture and variety.

Thank you very much for all your comments, and your useful advice, Lela,I'll take back this painting in a while to improve the needing parts, that are numerous!

I really like the shades of blue you used for the hightlights of the fur. Well done!

I, also, like the blue grays that you used, Sylviane. I'm such a "low" key painter...my only suggestion would be a little more darks to pop all his curly fur. But, still a cutie.
