This is a very nice impressionist representation of the tulip. All light and shadow areas are clearly and skillfully communicated. The choice of the background is very appropriate - it evokes imagination by suggesting that there is the whole misty world behind the flower to explore. Only by looking at the reference photo I would notice that light area on the stem is probably lost, otherwise it would look as if all is in shadow.
What a lovely painting. The soft curl of the petals are exquisite. The feathery softness they portray are so nice. The dark contrast of the background really makes the flower stand out. Maybe a hint of light on the leaf or stem would help but then again maybe not.
Thank you for your comments. I truly appreciate having this beautiful photograph to paint. I must say that the color is a little more grayed than my photo portrays. Lela your great photography and composition really awes me. Thank you for sharing this opportunity with us.
beautiful painting and very good title ;)
the background is a success
