Radha, this is a nice painting of the little duck and a good drawing. If I could pass on something I was taught in a workshop to you. The instructor reminded us when we paint a living thing (whether it's grass, trees, people or animals) the subject will have some form of yellow coloring in it. I think just a light wash would make your duck come alive and pop against the nice blues of your water.
Radha, I agree that this is a very nice painting. Your ducks form is great. I think you have captured a softness of the little fellow. What I think may help is more darks and lights in the water itself and in the duck to make it be more 3-D.
I really like how the dark blue water slowly fades to a lighter shade, bringing your eye to the duckling. I like the wide angle but wish it was even more extreme, with less above and below the duck. Now the duck looks a bit lonely! A tad a yellow on the duck and more highlights in the water would make this even better. But overall, this is very well done and pleasant!
Thanks everyone for those valuable comments... As pointed out by Linda and Paula, i definitely need to use some yellows to bring some life to the duckling.....
Thanks again
Really nice painting, Radha. I do agree with a little more warm colors in the duck.
