Horst, absolutely beautiful.
WOW! Gorgeous!
Horst, you do the most wonderful paintings.
Horst I always enjoy seeing you new paintings. This one is no different. It is real treat for the eyes and soul. Here is my feedback ...
Color harmony: Very harmonious well balanced color choice. Strong contrast adds to the theatrical effect introducing inviting intriguing drama on the stage.
3D effect: The rose elements are nicely painted and 3D effect clearly achieved by skillful engagement of highlights and shadows with appropriate color chroma, values and temperature. What I cannot see is "the air" "space behind and and around the rose".
Texture: Very well done. Leaves, dew drops, rose softness ... Maybe the texture of the rose petals could have been more pronounced.
Composition: It is great. All elements are positioned and sized so that the viewer has an interesting and exciting journey through the painting.
Focus: The focus is clearly the rose positioned close to the upper golden mean and slightly increased then the reference photo. It looks much better - great work.
Thank you Lea for your nice and constructive comments, it is the critique I am looking forward to, which makes this site so valuable and enjoyable.
The rounded petals of the rose looks so perfect.I also loved the way you painted the leaves a little closer to the flower which really helps the rose to be the focal point. The soft light makes it a really interesting piece.
Your sense of light in this, and the texture of the rose petals and the rose plant leaves are truly wonderful, Horst.
Horst, your work never ceases to amaze me. Absolutely lovely rose and great painting.
