Shirley Bond

  • Artist: Shirley Bond
  • Size: 8inches x 6inches
  • Medium & Support: watercolor on 300 watercolor paper
  • Artist Blog: http://only700.blogspot.com/
  • Artist Website:
  • Painting Technique : I sketched the outline of the lily and then filled in the background but found trying to get the shimmer of the water very difficult.
  • I also found trying to get a bright color tone difficult for the lily- it was either too pink or too red.
  • This looked like an easy study but it was not.

Hi Shirley, I will second that thought, what looked like a quick easy piece was most difficult. The reflections were tough and inded hard to catch that color. Nice work though

I saw your problem with your oils on your blog ,if you want to keep oils especially if you have a colour mixed you don't want to loose but haven't got time to finish, cover the paint and put it in the fridge or freezer and it will remain usable for quite a while. All the best,Syls
