Lela, I couldn't help taking on whole photo; I really liked it. I see a lot of problems. eg the highlights on the nectarines really bother me...look like white dots pasted on. Glass shadow on the wall is not laying flat; the level of fluid in the glass has a problem. Painting is too warm..punched it up a little too much. Also, any suggestions on "painting" a glass without drawing it...I had to end up drawing it to get the proportions somewhat believeable...the base is still wrong.

Very well done Pat, I am partial to warm colors, the water drops are excellent, the champagne glass including the air bubbles are great, the only thing I would change is the shadow on the upper right wall, the value could be darker like the spear-like shadow on the left,

This is stunning, Pat. This was difficult, and you have done the challenge proud!

I agree with the highlights patched on ;)
Blend a little ?

Glass is glassy and well drawn ;)

Question: why do you want to paint without drawing? Even with a brush, you start by a "drawing" (outlines,masses...)

Thanks, everyone. I will work on these areas. I do draw, but it seems like the glass needed a lot of "exactness?" to make it look right. It seems that once I start that detail/measuring, my brain clicks into realistic mode. It really looks nice painted realistically, but I would like to try a more painterly version. That will be my next personal challenge LOL

Pat I am truly impressed with all artists who painted the whole composition, you as well. Although my idea was let's give variety and choice, so everyone can choose what they feel comfortable with ... this is stunning. I feel extremely motivated and happy to see that all artists who joined PADT are motivated, hard working, willing to help each other and very sensitive "not to hurt each other's feelings". As an artist none could wish for better company to grow and learn. To be honest I was the first one planning to take a shortcut and paint a part of the composition, but all of you left me with no choice but to paint it all. It takes time ... for sure.
About your painting ... I love the fact that you commented first on it. Because I can right away disagree and tell you that I don't see any big problem with a liquid in the glass at all, neither a glass. It is simply perfect, for an impressionist painting. Yes, it has to be done with a drawing, unless you want to make it as an abstract intentionally modified non-symmetrical shape. Level of the liquid is a little further away from the top of the glass on the "back" side compared to the "front" side (if that is what you meant by "problem with liquid"), but that is too small to worry about it and easily modifiable. If in doubt just recall simple rule of prospective. Imagine a horizon line far, far away and vanishing point(s) again far, far away. The same physical distance becomes smaller as we move “dipper” into space. Glass shadow on the wall looks nice and "in place" as well. The only part I would probably change is sharp shadow line on the right top, above the glass and glass shadow. Just a little softer edge might look more harmonized with the rest of the painting. Looking at great vibrant "hot" colors you used all around ... I like them all. I was only wondering how the whole impression would look like if you happen to partially engage "cooler" soft blues and maybe dull greens in the crystal glass. This is just a though ... Cristal reflects all colors in the specter and it might help to contrast “hot” and bring more attention to the focus of the painting ... glass. What do you and others think?

What a nice painting. I am hard pressed to find anything that needs improvement. The glass is beautiful. The marbles which I suffered with seem just right. The only thing I see is the peach on the far right is kinda square but can work. Overall this is a great painting.

Thank you, Angela. I saw that, also. Lela, I think the blue or green would work on the glass and also tie in with the blue & green marbles and add that bit of cool color. Thanks everyone for all your comments and suggestions.
