Nice bark. Shining fruit.

Suggestion: More haze, less black (more than a half of the painting is black) in the background, but that's only me ;)

LOL at the title - can be also "somzbody missing"

Thanks Byannick, I appreciate your comments. Seems my camera dulled the background to black, but actually it's a love shade of deep violet. (I rarely use black, but do love Dioazine Purple!) But I do think I should lighten things a bit so the shadows of the fruit & leaves can be seen a bit better. Love your suggested title!

This is fantastic. I would love to see that little bit of background light that shows ot the bottom right of the strawberry - it would make your strawberry pop even more!
I really like the texture you created in the bark - it is subtle but very present.

Nanci, I also like the intense red, shaded to warmer yellow, the sense of luster and shine of the fruit. While I see a lighter background color in the reference photo, I rather like the way the shadowed side of the berry is lost in the background. I know what you're saying about the way the camera captures a painting - something is always lost in translation.

Beautiful painting Nancie! The dark background lends a sense of mystery :)

I really like the chiaroscuro look and nicely done. I do see the color in the background. I was taught light on dark; dark on light. My only suggestion would be to lighten the background a little where the dark area of the strawberry meets, just to show the form of that portion of the strawberry. Or, I guess, vice versa, lighten that portion of the strawberry a little.

I like the stipple effect this painting has. Details without being overbearing. The berry is slightly lost to the dark background but at the same time it really makes the berry "pop".

Wonderful, Nancy!I like your colors, the juicy aspect, the bending shape;and we all know that sometimes the pictures don't reflect our right hue, especially for the background!
